System One has an immediate need for an extremely ambitious Senior Chemist / Radiochemist to support one of our clients in Lansing, MI. This is a direct hire opportunity with comprehensive benefits and relocation assistance (if applicable).

This position provides expert level skill in the development of medical isotopes to support major programs. Plays a key role in various projects including developing extraction methods for medical and industrial radioisotopes from uranium and radium.

Job Duties

• Development & scale-up of a closed loop uranium fuel cycle for production of MO-99 & other medical isotopes
• Purification & analysis of pharmaceutical grade radioisotopes
• Radium processing for production of alpha-emitters
• Development of radioisotope generators
• Development of remote handling systems for performing radiochemistry operations with high activities
• Write & maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and licensing documentation.
• Work closely with chemists, physicists, engineers and others across the company in the pursuit of transforming the world.

Required Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Experience in a chemical laboratory or related field
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast paced environment

Recommended Education And Experience

• Experience working with radioactive material
• Knowledgeable in cGMP regulations
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience within chemical laboratory
• Hands on experience with chemical processing equipment
• Key role in multiple projects preferably with radioisotopes
• Experience with product development from benchtop to commercialization

Job Conditions

• Standing and sitting for long periods of time
• Lift and move up to 25 lbs.
• Wear safety glasses, goggle, gloves, lab coat, and/or Tyvek suit
• Work in Glovebox Lab Environment for up to 8 hours
• Handle chemicals and solutions
