The Credit Portfolio Group Manager is a senior management-level position that resides within the Citi Risk Management department and is responsible for the acquisition strategies across all partnerships including The Home Depot, Macy’s, Best Buy , among others. As part of the Citi Retail Services Risk Management team, the successful candidate will lead a team of Risk analysts responsible for analyzing and executing ideas and initiatives designed to achieve business growth and loss mitigation goals. This role involves driving credit risk initiatives within new account origination risk management and partner with credit operations and fraud to capture, prioritize and implement their initiatives within credit risk strategies. The ideal candidate will have several years of credit risk management experience managing a team of analysts, strong statistical and data analysis skills, SAS skills, and the ability to derive rigorous segmentation results based on business knowledge and objective judgment of the balance between risk and reward for the portfolio. This position will have high cross-functional and partner interactions and requires strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of risk analysts and manage complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas
- Lead risk financial forecasting efforts for credit tests and changes
- Develop, test, optimize and implement credit/valuation policies
- Manage risk levels for the entire credit/valuation spectrum across multiple products and retail formats consistent with program financial goals
- Track and report on initiatives, performance results, emerging trends and opportunities to senior management
- Establish cross-functional partnerships and networks in order to support the execute cross-functional and business initiatives
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
- Understand applicable credit policies, industry regulations and the requisite impact of those governance items on initiatives
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years experience in a large, sophisticated credit granting or risk management organization within a major consumer card, financial services, retailing or consulting business. A strong analytical orientation, and an appreciation for broad-based risk issues and a familiarity with operations are desired. In addition, the successful candidate will possess and be able to exhibit the following skills and requirements:
- BA/BS Degree with specialization in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Economics. Masters degree preferred
- 10+ years experience in financial services, preferably in Risk Management
- Extensive coursework / experience in quantitative & statistical analysis in consumer credit risk will be a plus
- Experience building credit policy strategies, preferably on a credit card portfolio
- The ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business objectives
- Excellent overall business judgment and solid management skills
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven skills to manage effectively across cross functional areas in a matrix-organization
- The candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, have strong multi-tasking ability and an ability to learn and apply new skills quickly
- Understanding of Consumer Credit Profit & Loss Drivers preferred
- Experience in Statistical Tools – SAS, SQL, Python, Knowledge Studio
- Demonstrated accountability for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and able to prepare presentations for executive level audience
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency
- Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
