Mercy Centre is a program of Catholic Charities located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy and Catholic Charities in the 1960’s, the program serves adults with developmental disabilities ages eighteen and over in four different programs from the Worcester County extended area. Our programmatic services are tailored to meet individualized needs and preferences. The emphasis is placed on enriching lives through employment, training, skill building and a full range of activities. Each program fosters growth in building self-esteem, independence, communication skills and encourages interactions with peers and community members.

Responsibilities

Behavioral Specialist. This individual will be working with individuals with behavioral disorders in coordination with Mercy Centre management and staff within the Employment, Community Based Day Services (CBDS) and Day Habilitation programs. This position works with individuals with autism spectrum disorder, pervasive developmental disorders or severe behavioral problems, but may also help with adults with one or more other diagnosed developmental or cognitive/intellectual disabilities.

Qualifications

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or related field such as psychology, social work, human services, rehabilitation, education or applied behavior analysis and at least two years’ experience working with the developmental disabilities populace and writing behavior plans. Additional requirements include a knowledge of computer technology to include Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets, demonstrated ability to manage complex behavioral issues, a strong knowledge of DDS Human Rights regulations and exceptional interpersonal, communication skills with empathy and personal integrity skills.
