Lab Associate/Phlebotomist

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Associate provides services as part of the patient care team. Primary responsibilities involve all aspects of specimen collection including registration, order entry, processing, packaging, preparation and transport of specimens. Performs age appropriate phlebotomy procedures on neonatal, pediatric, adult and/or geriatric patients. Assumes responsibility for compliance with all State, Federal, Hospital and Laboratory policies and procedures. Requires strict adherence to quality control guidelines to ensure the integrity of laboratory specimens and accuracy of results. Assumes responsibility for supply ordering and inventory control. Acts as a liaison between customers and the laboratory to ensure customer satisfaction with laboratory services by answering inquiries/resolving problems and relaying results. Requires multi-campus rotation. Responsible for working weekends, holidays, and for covering other than primary shift, as assigned.
